Marcus J. Meyer, O.D
President / Owner
Dr Meyer started Abba Eye Care in 1978 with one office located off Circle Dr. Before starting Abba he had grown up in Medford Wisconsin. After High School he attended College in Oclair Wisconsin where he received his undergrad in Biology with a math minor. He then spent some time overseas in England studying abroad before applying to Optometry school in Chicago. He was accepted and completed his O.D. degree at The Illinois School of Optometry in Chicago where after he moved around a bit enjoying his post schooling freedom. After traveling around a bit Dr. Meyer finally settled down in Colorado Springs where he started Abba Eye Care in 1978. Since starting Abba Dr Meyer has received many awards including Top Optometrist of the year nation wide in 1999. He has grown Abbas success through years of hard work and dedication to the Optometry field. He has a beautiful wife named Karrie and three kids, Kolsie, Keegan and Kyria.
Douglas Kim, OD
Dr.Douglas Kim is a graduate of the New England College of Optometry (Boston, MA), He has been practicing Optometry for 13 years and has been on staff with ABBA Eye Care for 6 (six) years. He enjoys spending time with his wife, son and 2 long haired dachshunds.
Kerry Garwood, OD
Dr. Garwood received her undergraduate degree from Case Western Reserve University. She attended Southern College of Optometry and graduated in 1999. Before moving to Colorado Springs in 2012, Dr Garwood worked at a laser center doing pre/post operative refractive surgery care. She has worked at Abba at Garden of the Gods and Nevada for the last two years. Dr Garwood enjoys running, yoga and spending time with her family.
Lindsay Sallecchia, OD
Dr. Lindsay Sallecchia is a graduate from The Ohio State University College of Optometry. Her externships included rotations at the Salt Lake City VA hospital, the Columbus Laser and Cataract Center, Midwest Retina in Columbus, and Family Eye Care Centers, a busy private practice in Sandusky, Ohio. One of her favorite memories at Ohio State was participating in an optometric humanitarian mission providing eye care to underserved populations in Honduras. Dr. Sallecchia is currently a member of the American and Colorado Optometric Associations, the Southern Colorado Optometric Society, and the American Academy of Optometry. She enjoys seeing patients of all ages while practicing primary eye care, and has special interests in pediatrics and contact lens services. Dr. Sallecchia and her husband, Nick, relocated from Columbus, Ohio last year. While they miss attending Buckeye football games, they have enjoyed hiking in the plentiful Colorado Sunshine and working on their new house. They are looking forward to periodically visiting Nick’s family in Australia.
Tim Burrows, OD
Dr. Tim Burrows is a graduate of the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, TN. While there he held various positions in the SCO Christian organization and received Who’s Who in America’s Colleges and Universities. He completed his externships in Lincoln, NE and in Corpus Christi, TX. After graduating, he and his brother opened Burrows Vision Clinic, in McCook and Benkelman, Nebraska. They practiced together for 30 years. Dr. Burrows is a member of the American Optometric Association and a past member of the Nebraska Optometric Association. He served on the NOA as a peer review board member, on the McCook Community Hospital board, and on the Evangelical Free Church board. He moved to Colorado Springs in 2015 to work for Abba Eye Care and enjoys hiking and biking in the great outdoors of Colorado. He and his wife, Sharon, have two grown daughters.
David Robbins, OD
Dr. David Robbins is a graduate of Indiana University School of Optometry. During his time at Indiana University, Dave was presented several awards for academic excellence along with co-authoring low vision rehabilitation research focusing on patient’s with macular degeneration. He is a recent addition to the ABBA Eye Care team and has special interest in pediatric exams and ocular disease. He is currently a member of the Colorado Optometric Association. Dave, along with his wife, Jessica, and daughter, Elizabeth (2), relocated from Indiana to take advantage of all the outdoor activities Colorado has to offer. In his spare time they enjoy fishing, hunting, and hiking in the beautiful Rocky Mountains.
Gaila J Austin, OD
I graduated from Optometry School at Northeastern State University, Tahlequah, Oklahoma, in 1994. From there, I moved to Lamar, Co and worked with Dr. Jeff Tidswell for six months. I opened my own practice in January 1995 through February 2015. In March of 2015, I joined the Abba Eye Care team in Lamar and La Junta, and since then I have loved my job and small town living. In June of 2015, I married Kurt Hill. I have two wonderful kids and two cute cats. I enjoy family time and reading science fiction books.
Marc Ofchinick, OD
Marc Ofchinick OD, MSc, is a recent high honors graduate of the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in Philadelphia. He received his Masters Degree in medical sciences from Drexel University College of Medicine and was a summa cum laude graduate at the Indiana University of Pennsylvania majoring in molecular biology. He has multiple certifications and is active in several optometric organizations and holds a Colorado Optometric License. Dr. Ofchinick completed his clinical externships in primary care, oculoplastics, retina, neuro-ophthalmic disease, and low vision services at The Eye Institute of Philadelphia, The Indian Health Service in Bethel Alaska, The Lebanon VA in Lebanon Pennsylvania, and specialty contact lens training at Advanced Eye Care in Sanford Florida. Dr. Ofchinick enjoys the outdoors, spending his free time hiking, camping, target shooting, fishing, weightlifting, and traveling.
Mia Jennings, OD
Dr Mia Jennings graduated with Honors from Indiana University School of Optometry in 1999 and commissioned in the US Air Force in 2000. She became a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry in 2005 and has a special interest in treating acute ocular injuries and diseases. Mia was the Medical Services Flight Commander at Vance Air Force Base when she retired in 2016 and moved to Colorado Springs. In her spare time she enjoys traveling, hiking and spending quality time with her two sons Tristan and Bryce.
Steven P. Clancy, O.D
Steven P. Clancy, O.D. is a 2000 graduate of The Illinois College of Optometry.
Dr. Clancy served as the Chief of Optometric Services at multiple Air Force bases during his 25 year military career. He retired from the Air Force in August 2014 as a Lieutenant Colonel. During his 14 years as an Air Force optometrist, Dr. Clancy directed clinical services at bases in Alabama, Italy, Okinawa, Japan, South Korea and finally at Peterson Air Force Base here in Colorado. He also had the opportunity to participate in humanitarian missions treating underserved populations in the Philippines and Alaska.
Dr. Clancy received his Fellowship from the American Academy of Optometry in 2006. In addition to practicing Primary Care Optometry, his interests include contact lens services and treatment of ocular diseases including glaucoma, macular degeneration and cataracts. Dr. Clancy is a lifetime member of the Armed Forces Optometric Society and also a member of both the American and Colorado Optometric Associations, and he looks forward to lending his support to future changes in the field of Optometry as the country and Colorado in particular embark on many new changes in health care.
Alicia Nehls, O.D
Dr. Nehls graduated magna cum laude from University of Illinois at Chicago with a BS degree in Neuroscience in 2006. She received her Doctor of Optometry degree from Illinois College of Optometry with cum laude distinction in 2011. In 2012, she completed a pediatrics and binocular vision residency at Illinois College of Optometry. Dr. Nehls was then hired as faculty and was one of the clinical preceptors in pediatrics, primary care, and developmental disabilities clinics. She recently relocated to Denver from Illinois with her husband to enjoy the many outdoor activities that Colorado has to offer. Dr. Nehls obtained her fellowship from the American Academy of Optometry in pediatrics and binocular vision in 2013. She has special interests in strabismus and amblyopia and patients with developmental disabilities.
Glenn N. Pierre, O.D.
A graduate of the Illinois College of Optometry, Dr. Pierre has been on the staff with ABBA Eye Care for ten (10) years. He has been in practice for 29 years. He is a current member of: – The Colorado Optometric Association – The American Optometric Association – The Southern Colorado Optometric Association – Rotary International – Past Board Member Colorado Optometric Association – Current Board Member of Citizen Soldier Connection. He enjoys golf, reading mystery novels and historical biographies, and travel. “My commitment as a doctor of optometry is treating every patient with dignity and respect, without exception. I prefer to listen more than I speak to understand the full context of a patient’s needs and treatment.”
Richard Martinez, OD
Brian Meier, OD
Brian has been with Abba for 8 years. He graduated from the USAF Academy in 1984 with a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering, and from The Ohio State University in 1996 with a degree in Doctor of Optometry. Brian has practiced for 20 years in primary eye care, with experience in Low Vision, Aerospace Vision, and clinic management, and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry, and member of the Armed Forces Optometric Society. He has also been happily married to Robin Meier for 29 years, and has 3 children to show for it! Pastor Kyle (27) married to Marie and living in NC with their beautiful daughter Wrenn (1), Fireman Austin (24) married to Cinzia and living in AZ, and Zookeeper-to-be Susan (21) whose starting her 3rd year of college this Fall here at PPCC! He considers himself a traveling, western slope eye doc that enjoys hiking and ATV’ing to as many mountain streams, waterfalls, and sand dunes as he can find! Spending quality time with his family is also at the top of his list.
Brendan Tobler, OD
Dr. Brendan Tobler graduated from The Ohio State University College of Optometry and recently began practicing with ABBA Eye Care. During his time at OSU he was active in the American Optometric Association and American Academy of Optometry student chapters and is a current member of the American and Colorado Optometric Associations. He has an interest in pediatric and binocular vision care. Brendan enjoys spending his spare time with his wife, Meg, and little girl Hazel.
Traci Peters, OD
Dr. Traci Peters received a B.S. In Biomedical Science from Texas A&M University in 1998 and a Doctor of Optometry from the University of Houston in 2003. She completed externships at the Albuquerque V. A. Hospital and the Wuerzburg Army Hospital. She began her optometry career as a Captain in the 1st Medical Group at Langley Air Force Base. After three years, she resigned her commission and continued as a civilian optometrist at Langley for two years. Dr. Peters began working for Abba Eyecare in 2008. She is a member of the American Optometric Association, the Colorado Optometric Association, the Southern Colorado Optometric Society, and the Colorado Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity. She is also a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry. In her free time, Dr. Peters enjoys spending time with her husband and two children. Some of her hobbies include running, skiing, cooking, and traveling.
Gene Johnson, OD
Originally from Michigan, Dr Johnson has practiced in the Aurora area for 30 years. He received his undergraduate degree from Ferris State College, and his Doctor of Optometry degree from the Illinois College of Optometry, Chicago. He has 2 grown children and when not in the office enjoys cooking, camping and outdoor activities. Dr Johnson also has an interest in optometric humanitarian work and has been on many clinic trips to Mexico, Panama, and Peru.
